What are achievements?

Achievements are tasks any CO2IN user can complete to earn rewards. Each achievement has a given condition, which when met, will allow you to claim the reward of free CO2IN tokens. You can find all active incomplete achievements on top of your Home screen. You will find all achievements - complete and incomplete on the bottom of the Calculator screen.

How can I earn achievement rewards?

Fulfil the condition, which you find in the achievement description, to be able to Claim the reward. Click on the CLAIM button, when you see it, to receive the free CO2IN to your Wallet.

What achievements are available?

At present, there are three achievement types: 

• calculate your carbon footprint
• buy a total of 10 CO2IN
• invite friends (structured in four Tiers)
• pay with CO2IN (conditional on finishing the buy CO2IN achievement first)

What are achievement Tiers and how do they work?

Achievement Tiers are levels, at which we reward you for the same type of task at different levels. An example of a tiered achievement is “invite friends”. For this achievement, you first see a task to invite one friend to join CO2IN. When completed, the task will be replaced by the second Tier invite achievement: Invite 4 more friends and earn 40 CO2IN. This will count when inviting a total of 5 friends (including the one in the first level). And so on. In the end, when you complete all achievement Tiers, you will have invited (for all Tiers combined) a total of 30 friends and received a reward of a total of 200 CO2IN.

How does the carbon footprint achievement work?

This achievement is completed, when you complete the Carbon Calculator survey, which you will find at the top of the Calculator screen.

How does the buy CO2IN achievement work?

This achievement is completed, when the total sum of CO2IN tokens you buy throught the CO2IN app reaches 10 CO2IN. CO2INs obtained in other ways (e.g. for rewards or received from other users) are not counted towards this achievement.

How does the “invite friends” achievement work?

This achievement is completed, when a given number of your friends (based on achievement Tier) that you have invited with your unique invitation code (under the INVITE button) successfully open and verify their CO2IN accounts in the CO2IN app.

What counts as an invited friend for the invite achievement?

First, you must use your unique link, which is included in the message to friends, when you click on the INVITE button on the achievement's box. Your friends must open this link on their mobile devices. The link will take them to the App Store or Google Play (based on their device OS) to the CO2IN app page. They need to download the CO2IN app and create a new account. After creating the new account, they must also fully verify it. That means to provide and pass all verifications in the “Verify your account” section on the Home screen. When this is done, the account will be counted toward the achievement completion.

Please note that because of legal and contractual limitations we cannot verify an account for people below 15 years old and any attempts to create duplicate accounts will lead to account suspensions. You can find more information in our Terms & Conditions.

Why can the invite achievement fail to count a verified account towards an achievement?

There are several issues, which may cause issues. Firstly, as written in the message to invited friends, the unique invite link needs to be opened on a mobile device. Opening the link on a PC, or Mac will lead to a co2in.com/join website and therefore, the information about who invited the user will be lost. 

Another issue that can cause problems is if the app was terminated in the early part of the new account creation process. To work correctly, the CO2IN app should not be terminated during the new account creation process, because in this case it loses the temporary data (cache) about the invitation.

How many CO2IN can I earn with achievements?

At present, you can earn up to 214 CO2IN for successfully completing all available achievements. Most of those, specifically 200 CO2IN, are for the four Tiers of the “invite friends” achievement.

How does the “pay by CO2IN” achievement work?

This achievement is only shown to users, who have previously finished and claimed the reward for the "buy CO2IN" achievement. To accomplish it, you need to make an outgoing CO2IN payment. You can pay your friend for a beer, or pay at one of many participating merchants (see map here).
